German Diverse Books Project Hiatus

I started the German Diverse Books (#DeutscheDiversityBücher) project at the beginning of this year. It was a lot of fun, but also really quite stressful. It seriously isn’t easy to find diverse books that were first published in German. Add #ownvoices to the mix and it leads to even fewer options.

It was really difficult to find diverse books in my preferred genre. Thus, I’ve decided to stop my German Diverse Books project for some time. I might come back to it in the future; I might not. This doesn’t mean that I won’t read any German books anymore. It just means that I won’t be stressed trying to find a book every month.

  1. Oh! This sounds really cool. I’m sorry you’re having such a difficult time finding books, but I can kind of understand why it might be so hard. America is definitely promoting diverse books, but I’m not sure how well that’s working yet in other parts of the world. (And many countries may not have quite as much diversity.) Though, this is just based off my experience.

I am curious, though, to find a book blogger who reads (and reviews) German books. Are you German or did you learn it in school? 🙂

    1. I am German.

All countries have diversity, as there are many different types of minorities: religions, ethnicities, queer, disablilities, to name a few. I just think publishing is not promoting an accurate picture of the world we live in.
